In the comments of last week's show on the blog here was a suggestion by John E. Gibson for a report on who has the highest batting average for a given pitch type. Or the most home runs. Sounding like it would make an interesting study, let's see what we've got.

Raw data for the report can be found here (Google Drive).

Inter-league moves back to Pacific League venues this week. Hopefully that will mean that Yokohama has a better chance at winning, since they have an unusually hard time winning at home.

And this week's Japan Baseball Weekly Podcast will feature an interview with Micha Hoffpauir of the Fighters, rookie Ohtani as an All Star, and a look at the standings.

Enjoyed your show, anyway I am going to have a good look at the link you provided, I am sure it will give some good information

Just thinking... thing with sliders for example, you have to be precise with that pitch, if you hang it up a bit, the chances of it being sent to the stands is pretty high

I would suspect that many of the sliders and shuutos given to Blanco would be late in the count and the pitcher probably was trying to be either too fancy or he miscontrolled it under pressure which is understandable

So my message to the pitchers is, make sure you get it precise with the slider or if you feel too nervous to get it spot on, go with another pitch

I know this is probably hard to assess, but i wonder with the likes of blanco and luna for example, how they fare against starters and relievers, there are obviously good starters and good relievers and bad starters and bad relievers

Azza,

Some more great observations. And the idea for a follow up with how they do against starters versus relievers sounds like a great idea. I've already shown that Yokohama's starters have tended to be worse than their relievers, so that's looking at it from the other side of the equation. That's a very intriguing idea, indeed. Thank you.
