"Meikyukai" Golden Players Club

Discussion in the Records and Milestones forum
"Meikyukai" Golden Players Club
Has the "Meikyukai" Golden Players Club formally inducted any players recently? I know that several players recently became eligible to join.

Kazuyoshi Tatsunami (IF, Chunichi Dragons) (July 2003)
Kazuhiro Kiyohara (1st Base, Yomiuri) (June 2004)
Kimiyasu Kudoh (Pitcher, Yomiuri)(August 2004)
Atsuya Furuta (Catcher, Yakult) (April 2005)

I also have a question. Why isn't Hiromitsu Ochiai a member of the Meikyukai? I thought that a player automatically becomes a member once he records either his 2,000th hit or 200th Win. Is this true?

According to Gary Garland's site, Ochiai "Refused membership in the Meikyukai ("Famous Players Association"), saying that the arbitrary numbers required for entrance left a lot of great players out." Makes sense to me.

Thank you for your quick reply. However, the question remains. Are Tatsunami, Kiyohara, Kudoh, and Furuta members of the "Meikyukai" Golden Players Club? They are elligible to be inducted?

The "Meikyukai" Golden Club website it has Kioyhara, Tatsunami, Furuta, and Kudoh listed. [Links to respective membership pages.]
