Hanshin Tigers Set New Team Strikeout Record
The Hanshin Tigers pitchers have set a new NPB team record for combined strikeouts, with 1,128 through the September 21st game. The previous record of 1,126 strikeouts for a team was set by the Daiei Hawks' pitching staff in 2003.

During the September 21st game against Chunichi at Koshien Stadium, the Tigers tied the record in the top of the 8th inning when Kyuji Fujikawa struck out Chunichi's Motonobu Tanishige, and Fujikawa then broke the record by striking out pinch hitter Takayuki Ohnishi. Closer Tomoyuki Kubota came on in the 9th inning to add 2 more strikeouts, making the Tigers total 1,128 through 136 games played.

About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
