Pedraza Heads to USA for Treatment
The June 7, 2003 Japan Today [Link] reported that Rodney Pedraza will leave for the U.S.A. for treatment of his right shoulder injury. This season Pedraza (1-1) had an ERA of 12.00 in seven games for the Yomiuri Giants.

[westbaystars: Nikkan Sports further reports that it is highly likely that Pedraza will most likely be released. In the mean time, the Giants are close to signing Julio Santana (AAA Phillies organization) as a set-upper.]

Pedraza Released
[ Author: Kiyoshi | Posted: Jun 17, 2003 12:52 AM | HAN Fan ]

The June 17, 2003 Japan Times reports that Rodney Pedraza was released by the Yomiuri Giants. American doctors said that Pedraza needed right shoulder surgery that would entail at least six months of rehabilitation.

Rodney was a four time All-Star and had racked 117 saves for the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks before signing with the Giants for 2003.

[westbaystars: Nikkan Sports states that Pedraza was released on waivers. I don't personally see what difference waivers is as compared to any other method of release, but I've gotten a number of queries in the past about whether a player was released on waivers or not.]
