Alex Ochoa Released

Discussion in the NPB News forum
Alex Ochoa Released
It says on USA Today that Alex Ochoa has been released by the Pawtucket Red Sox. It may mean that he has signed a contract with a team overseas. I thought he was great for the Dragons and I think he could still help a team in NPB.

It's nice to see Brian Sikorski back in NPB. I believe he'll be the third active foreigner who's played with three different NPB teams. Tuffy Rhodes and Greg LaRocca are the other two, although technically Rhodes played with the Buffs before.

Kenny,

Alex is 35 years old. He didn't bat his weight. I saw them play Durham. He, at that time, was striking out at a ratio of 1 to 3 at bats. AAA pitchers are good, but it looked like fast balls over-powered him.

Maybe he is going to play in CBL. I can't see him in NPB, based on what he did in AAA.

Ochoa might get a chance because of his track record, but I can't see who he would sign with. The only team I could think of is Chiba. Ochoa would be an improvement over Watson, but personally I don't see Chiba releasing Watson.
