Yu Darvish Wins Sawamura Award
Kyodo News reports that young Yu Darvish won the 2007 Sawamura Award as the best pitcher in Japanese baseball.

Like the Cy Young, the Sawamura doesn't include post-season, right? Darvish's win over Naruse in game 5 was huge, but I imagine that the votes were in before then? (Or weren't "supposed" to consider that.)

As Deanna and others pointed out, Darvish won this based on his season stats. He lead the league (both leagues in many cases) in something like 17 categories. Game 5 of the Climax Series had nothing to do with it.

Somebody else had asked if Darvish was the first Fighter/Flier in franchise history to win the Sawamura Award. Nikkan Sports confirms that to be so [in Japanese].
