Kanemura (NIP) - Nakamura (HAN) Trade

Discussion in the NPB News forum
Kanemura (NIP) - Nakamura (HAN) Trade
The Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters and Hanshin Tigers have made exchanged pitchers. The Fighters' 13 year veteran Satoru Kanemura, who recently declined declaring free agency to stay with the Fighters, will be heading to the Hanshin Tigers in exchange for left handed pitching prospect Yasuhiro Nakamura.

Will Kanemura be able to regain his composure after the debacle with Hillman-kantoku just before the 2006 Nippon Series? Will Nakamura develop into an ichi-gun regular under new management?

Wow. This is a huge trade in a league in which most trades are for minor players. Right now it looks like Hanshin got away with highway robbery, since Kanemura is established and Nakamura is still young. That could change in the future, though. The huge hole in Hanshin's rotation fills up a little more with this move. Nippon Ham also frees up some money to go after power batters.

Wow. Shades of Shimoyanagi back in, when was it, 2002?
