Chunichi Lose to Wyverns

Discussion in the NPB News forum
Chunichi Lose to Wyverns
The Chunichi Dragons lost their first match in the Konami Cup last night 6-3 to SK Wyverns of Korea. A fine performance by the South Korean side was helped by some spectacularly inept fielding on the Chunichi side.

The SK Wyverns then went on to score 26 runs in the next two games (13-0, 13-1) to record a 3-0 record advancing to the final.

Chunichi also moved on with victories over the Taiwan and Chinese team, ending with a 2-1 record.

BTW, Chunichi's loss to SK was the first match dropped by a Japanese team since the Konami Cup was introduced 2 seasons ago.

Without Tyrone Woods in the lineup, and already with Fukudome sidelined, the lack of firepower in the Dragons' roster could very possibly make them the first NPB team to not win the Konami Cup.

That is a very impressive Korean team. You know, a Japanese team had to lose in the Konami Cup sometime. Might as well get it over with now.

Chunichi beat them in the finals. Just like in the WBC, Korea loses the one game that actually matters. -_-

It's going to be extremely hard to be the Japanese team from here on out. Nobody wants to be the first Japanese team to fail to win it.
