BayStars Sign Iriki

Discussion in the NPB News forum
BayStars Sign Iriki
The Yokohama BayStars have signed pitcher Yusaku Iriki. Iriki was invited to the fall training camp by the team.

I'd like to know why Yokohama would sign Iriki? I can't possibly understand the logic behind it. There has to be much better options than signing Iriki.

Iriki [Baseball Reference] went 4-6 with a 4.59 ERA in 21 games between A Dunedin, AA New Hampshire, and AAA Syracuse. He has a career 35-35 record with a 3.73 ERA in 212 games with the Yomiuri Giants and Nippon Ham Fighters.
