Rhodes Ejected for Offensive Look

Discussion in the NPB News forum
Rhodes Ejected for Offensive Look
Tuffy Rhodes was ejected for an "offensive look" at the home plate umpire. Apparently, he struck out but didn't do anything untoward. However, the umpire thought the look directed at him was so bad that Rhodes had to go (see today's Daily Yomiuri, Nikkan Sports, etc. for details). It's nice to see the officials are maintaining their reputation for absurdity.

It's stuff like this that makes me wish SportsCenter or Baseball Tonight had international editions. I'd love to see John Kruk and Peter Gammons discussing something like this. Sure, it's Tuffy, and the umpire will probably say he was afraid he was about to be mugged, still.
