Ikeyama Hits #300
Yakult's Ikeyama hit his career 300th home run (his first home run of the 2001 season) this afternoon (5/6) at Hiroshima Shimin (Municipal) Stadium to temporarily put the game "out of reach" in the 7th inning.  I say "temporarily" because Hiroshima came back from an 11-5 deficit in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game.  Yakult went on to win 15-11.At Yakult's official site (in Japanese), Ikeyama was quoted as saying,
I feel like, Yes! I've finally hit it.  I'd like to thank all the fans, coaches, and team mates who have backed me.  But this isn't the end, as I'll continue to do my best in those critical situations.  Please continue to chear us on.  I sincerely thank you all.

Congratulations Bun-Bun Maru!

About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
