Oh-kantoku Wins 800th as Manager
With Daiei's 12-1 defeat of Nippon Ham last night (8/29), Daiei's manager, Oh Sadaharu won his career 800th game as a skipper. With the Giants between 1984 and 1988, Oh managed to a 347 and 264 (39 ties) record (.568 winning percentage). Since taking over the top spot with Daiei in 1995, the Hawks have been 453 and 449 (14 ties, .502) which brings Oh-kantoku's career managerial record to 800 and 713 (53 ties), a .529 winning percentage.

Oh becomes the 13th manager to reach this milestone, and he does it two games later than former team mate Nagashima-kantoku (Giants) who reached 800 wins on his 1,564th game at the helm.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
