Olympic Roster?

Discussion in the Open Talk forum
Olympic Roster?
Does anyone have or know the roster for Japan's National Team for the Olympics? I would like to see it and how it will affect teams that are in playoff races.

Hoshino-kantoku's Olympic team has just been released. Interesting selections and how Tigers will be affected lacking Iwata, Fujikawa and Kubota remains to be seen.

Am I correct when I say two players from each of the 12 NPB teams have to be on the Olympic roster? I believe that's what was done in 2004. Or, to use a Roger Clemens term, did I mis-remember?

This was the previous rule and it was what happened in 2004. It has since changed and Hoshino (who probably wouldn't accept such a restriction anyway) has free reign to chose who he wants.

2000 was PL players only and Japan didn't win gold.

2004 was 2 per NPB team and Japan didn't win gold.

Finally they're going all out in 2008 with all non-MLB players. It should even out NPB play during the Olympics which could make the pennant interesting (good for weaker teams, bad for stronger teams).

Japan will definitely win gold with that roster.
