Valentine: I won't support Giants
Chiba Lotte Marines manager Bobby Valentine isn't cheering for the Yomiuri Giants in the ongoing Japan Series.

Yes! Finally, someone tells it like it is about the Giants. This is the exact reason why I can't cheer for Yomiuri (at least during the regular season, and off-season I suppose). I would totally love to shake Bobby's hand and tell him how right he is.

Bobby V. has a point, but to the cynic in me, it sounds like sour grapes. Bobby, I have an idea: Why don't you take a pay cut of maybe $1 million since you already make something like $3 million a year, and use it to sign a decent import player instead of signing retreads (like washed-up has-been Julio Zuleta).

I also didn't hear Bobby complaining when his Mets signed Mike Piazza.

Absolutely! What has the $3 million we paid Zuleta the last 2 years got us? Nada - absolutely nothing - nothing on or off the field. Do we have to put up with him another year? Please tell me no!
