What? You think that Mayumi-kantoku has a master plan for his pitching roation? You must not be reading Christopher's Tiger Tails enough.

Setting aside the usual calls of incompetence from Hanshin's management, the typical rotation before the break was:
  • Iwata
  • Andoh
  • Nohmi
  • Kubo
  • Fukuhara
  • random
  • random
Oh, and Shimoyanagi was mixed in the first five slots in a random sort of way as well, usually with between 8 and 11 days between starts.

Since Andoh started last night (July 28), maybe it'll continue from there. Or maybe Iwata's spot will jump forward. In other words, any of the remaining 5 regular starters may be next, or Mayumi may go for the surprise random pitcher. It's really hard to say.

As Michael said the rotation is completely senseless. Fukuhara is now in the second team and Kanemura is up. Nohmi was out of the rotation but was brought back for the Giants game. Cheng is supposed to be starting sometime soon. Iwata looks like he won't be up much longer. It chops and changes with the only constant elements being Shimoyanagi, Andoh and Kubo.

Sponichi just had a small notice about it a couple of days ago. It said the rotation for the following games will look as follows:

vs Yokohama:
  1. Andoh
  2. Iwata
  3. Kubo
vs Kyojin
  1. Nohmi
  2. Kanemura Satoru
  3. Shimoyanagi
Personally, I hope they give the young pitchers more chances to start in the second half of the season. I'm specially intrigued by Cheng, but I would also like to see more of Uezono and Kojima, and the 1-gun debut of Ikketsu Sho.
