Matsuzaka Penciled in as #3 Starter for Playoffs
Daisuke Matsuzaka, who won 15 games in his first Major League season, will also get his first taste of the MLB playoffs, but as the #3 starter in the Red Sox rotation for the American League Divisional Series, which features two World Series MVP's: Josh Beckett (2003 for the Florida Marlins), and Curt Schilling (2001 co-MVP w/Randy Johnson).

Because Boston chose the eight-day ALDS schedule against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, it will allow Matsuzaka to pitch on his regular 5 days of rest.

Correction to this topic, Matsuzaka will be the #2 starter for the Red Sox, as reported by WEEI 850 AM Boston last night.

Matsuzaka will follow Josh Beckett in the playoff rotation, setting him up for a possible Game 5 winner-take-all showdown against the Angels if necessary.
