ロッテの新クローザー候補ウインストン・アブレイユ投手(３０＝ナショナルズ)が、１イニングを２Ｋ、無安打無失点と好投した。左打者の外から入ってくるスライダーを効果的に使い、楽天聖沢、西谷を連続空振り三振に切って取った。「全体的に良くなっている。寒い中でこれだけ投げられたのは良かった」と話した。
