Matsuzaka Takes on the Rangers
Daisuke Matsuzaka takes the mound for the Boston Red Sox tonight in Arlington against the Texas Rangers. Dice-K has lasted at least 7 innings in each of his last 3 starts (3-0, 1.87 ERA). This is Matsuzaka's first career appearance against Texas.

The Rangers counter with Brandon McCarthy, who is also on a hot streak of his own, with a 3-0 record and a 2.31 ERA in his last 4 games. In four games against the Red Sox, McCarthy is 1-1 (1 start) with a 2.03 ERA.

Between a 2-hour rain delay and a bout with the stomach flu, Matsuzaka wasn't as sharp as he would have liked. Despite that, the Red Sox gave Matsuzaka all the offense he needed in a 10-6 victory at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas.

Matsuzaka was said to be vomiting between innings, yet lasted 5 innings, striking out six, and giving up 5 earned runs.
