Red Sox to Open in Japan in 2008 (?)
Sponichi is reporting that the Red Sox opening 2008 in Japan is a ketteiteki done deal, but there doesn't seem to be a confirmation of it in the U.S. media as yet.

Anyone have any further/more concrete info? Yoroshiku!

It's been rumored for a long time that the Boston Red Sox could open in Tokyo in 2008, but so far there's been no confirmation of that by the Red Sox or MLB.

The Boston Globe says the Red Sox brass denies the report, and that opening in Japan in 2008 its unlikely. The Seattle Post-Intelligencer says that the Mariners, A's, and Yankees are being mentioned as possibilities to play the Red Sox in Japan in 2008, and that reports mentions the Yankees and Mariners are less than thrilled with the possibility, due to losing lucrative home games. Oakland, by contrast, draws poorly in Oakland (which is one reason they're moving to Fremont) and have little to lose by giving up home games.

Finally some confirmation - this is now a done deal, the Sox will open vs the A's on March 25th-26th next year.

Here is the SI link.

.Hope to see some of you there!
