Converting 12 out of 14 saves sounds like a pretty good conversion rate. And a 2.72 ERA certainly isn't awful. What else is going on here? Was there a specific reason given for Hammes' release?

I thought Hammes retired after modest success with Camden of the Atlantic League. I read he is returning to South Jersey.

So the release may have been homesickness?
