Is Fukudome content in Japan or does he have a desire to play in the MLB?

What is Fukudome's contract status? When would he be a free agent and be eligible to sign in North America?

Fukudome is currently in his 8th year as a Dragon. Players require 9 years before becoming a free agent, with each year being so many days. It depends on how many days Fukudome was on the active roster in 2000, 2004, and 2006 as to when he'll qualify for free agency. It may be after the 2007 season at the earliest, it may be mid-way through 2008 (but you'll have to wait for that year's contract to end).

I hope to someday find a source for days of active service to better answer this question.

Is there any chance that Fukudome will be posted this off season?

Not now. Maybe after next season, but the Dragons are contending.

From rotowire.com:
Fukudome is eligible to try to sign with an MLB club this winter via the posting system, but so far, Fukodome has shown little public interest in moving to the majors, and Chunichi does not seem inclined to post him.
