Chinese National Team to Play NPB Farm Teams

Discussion in the Around Asia forum
Chinese National Team to Play NPB Farm Teams
According to Nikkan Sports, NPB is looking into the option of inviting the Chinese National Baseball Team over to Japan in the summer of 2005 for games against NPB farm teams. Since there will be an odd number of teams in each farm league (7 Eastern, 5 Western), NPB is considering inviting the Chinese team over to play some games and help fill in scheduling gaps. So is the NPB ni-gun teams will be playing Chinese teams in the regular season or as exhibition games?

When you say "Chinese," do you mean Taiwan or China?

I'm pretty sure the Chinese National Team would be coming over for regular season games, if this actually happens. I haven't really seen anything expanding from the original artcile yet. Maybe somebody else has?

The games will be played during the end of July. The NPB will cover the cost of the tour, using part of the 800 million yen put in a promotional fund by Softbank and Rakuten. [Link - Daily Yomiuri]

The Chinese team will play each of the 12 teams in the Western and Eastern League during the tour. [Link - The Japan Times]
