Chunichi to Face Giants

Discussion in the NPB News forum
Chunichi to Face Giants
With a runner on third and two down in the top of the 9th, Fujikawa went full to Woods and threw a ball straight down the middle, up in the strike zone. Woods gave a full swing and paused there at the plate, admiring his work as the ball sailed over the center field wall at Kyocera Dome. That was the first (and only) score of the game.

Dragons 2, Tigers 0. Chunichi moves on to Stage Two.

Look for a full report of the game and series in tomorrow's Tuesday edition of Pro Yakyu This Week.

Hanshin was asking for trouble if they still pitch to a guy hitting 30+ home runs every year after falling behind 0-3. Incredibly stupid.

Too much pride on the part of Fujikawa. Looked like he was pitching around him at first, then he thought he could blow one by him. Woods didn't have his best year, but he's done a lot of damage to the Tigers in the past. Should have walked him to get to Wada. Of course he got a hit as well, but maybe only because Kyuji was in shock.

Unfortunately, this is the way it seemed the season would end - too soon after such a promising start. And the Red Sox got eliminated on the same day in similar fashion.

Falling behind 3-0, 1st base open and Fujikawa throws a nice fat pitch to hit up around the letters. What an absolute joke! Fujikawa is still young. Why wasn't he told to pitch around him by either by Okada or Yano?

There's your season right there. Okada doesn't know how to manage pitchers. Good riddance!

Not sure if it's of any interest, but I live-blogged the last two Hanshin games over at

Steve Says Kanpai.

Take a look if you're bored!

Cheers.
