Hitoki Iwase: 50+ Mound Appearances
Chunichi Dragons closer Hitoki Iwase became just the second pitcher in NPB history to appear in 50+ games for 7 consecutive years, starting with his rookie season, when he took the mound for the 50th time during the August 31st game against Hanshin at Koushien Stadium. The only other pitcher to do so was Noboru Akiyama, who did it for 9 consecutive years with the Taiyo Whales from 1956-64.

During the August 31st game, Iwase also tied the Chunichi club record for 38 saves, tying Dong Yeol Sun's mark set back in 1997.

About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
