Carp Defeat Hawks on One Hit
If you read the Japan Ball scores for March 10, you'll find this for the Carp's 2-1 victory over the Hawks:
Softbank right-hander Kazumi Saito struck out eight batters and did not allow a hit over five scoreless innings, despite walking three in a game against Hiroshima at Yahoo Dome.

Nobuhiko Matsunaka hit a solo blast in the fifth. Hiroshima right-hander Masayuki Hasegawa limited the damage to one run on two hits in five sharp innings.
What that doesn't mention is that the Carp only had one hit in the game! And what's more, that one hit was a sacrifice bunt turned into an infield hit!

If you can read Japanese, this Nikkan Sports article gives you the Carp half of the sixth inning.
This was truely a one hit victory! Despite Hiroshima leading the pre-season standings, they were able to defeat Softbank on just one hit. With the only hit coming in the sixth inning on Higashide's sacrifice bunt, it was "practically a no hitter." In this inning, two walks then the bunt base hit loaded the bases. Maeda then grounded out to first [diving in a run] and Arai hit a sacrifice fly to score two runs and turn the game around. From there they were able to walk away with it.
I get the feeling that the person who wrote up the Kyodo report didn't watch the game. Or was maybe a Softbank reporter?

The story was most likely just quickly summed up in a small blurb to keep space in print, hence the omission of the 2-1 victory by Hiroshima on just 1 hit. Though it wouldn't hurt for Kyodo to add that for English speakers, as it was important to the game summary.
