Kenji Johjima Posts Highest Career Catcher BA
Fukuoka Softbank Hawks' catcher Kenji Johjima has posted the highest career batting average ever in the history of NPB for a catcher through 4,000 at-bats, hitting .299. During the third at bat of the September 11th game featuring the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks against the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles, Johjima reached career at-bat number 4,000, and through the end of the game, he has a career .299 batting average. I don't know which catcher was the previous career average leader, but the article I read stated Johjima beat out Atsuya Furuta and Katsuya Nomura for the top spot.

Man, the Hawks would be loath to lose the best catcher in NPB today (yes, I said it). Not much is being made on his intentions after this season, so we're still in the dark concerning that topic.
