Tani Sets New Doubles Record
Orix's center fielder Tani has set a new Japan record for doubles in yesterday (9/23) afternoon's 12-7 wash out of the Daiei Hawks.

With nobody out and two runners on in the top of the 6th, just after taking a 5-3 lead the inning before, Tani hit his 49th double of the season, a one bounder to the fence in center field. The RBI was one of two for Tani who went 4 for 6 and scored twice.

Of course, Tani's accomlishment was overshaddowed by the fact that by defeating Daiei, the defending champs drop 3.5 games behind Kintetsu (who won) with just 6 games remaining. They're not elliminated yet, but things are getting tougher.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
