Guts' salary to be same in '08
Yomiuri Giants third baseman Michihiro "Guts" Ogasawara re-signed with the Central League club on Tuesday for an estimated annual salary of ¥380 million unchanged from this year. The signing was for the second year of his four-year contract after Ogasawara became the first player in Japanese baseball history to win back-to-back MVP awards in different leagues. Ogasawara hit .313 with 31 homers and 88 RBIs in 142 games in his first season with Yomiuri. He was the Pacific League MVP in 2006 when he was with the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters. He had surgery on his left knee last month and plans to start running at the start of 2008.
