Orix close to signing Powell, ex-Lion Cabrera
The Orix Buffaloes are making strides to improve themselves on offense and defense with a pair of seven-year Japan veterans.

The club on Friday said it was near a close to a deal with slugger Alex Cabrera, the ex-Seibu Lions star who has 273 homers, and had reached contract terms with hurler Jeremy Powell, who earned 57 of his 67 wins in Japan over five years with the Osaka club.
