Hmm... to answer the question of "why are these guys getting so many ABs?" I'd think that in half the cases it's pretty obvious -- almost every one of those "bottom-feeders" is, in fact, a catcher... and catchers can get away without hitting as well as everyone else, usually.

A better question would be why "Rose" is at the top of the OPS leaders. I did a double-take there for a second, thinking a particular OTHER foreign player had made his way back to Japan...
