He may well return to San Diego to join fellow Japanese native Tadahito Iguchi. The Padres, who Ohtsuka once played for, are possibly interested in him.

A recent rumor is that the Phillies are interested as well. Having performed very well in the closers role for the Rangers, were they convinced that he could contribute in that role and stay healthy into 2008 they wouldn't have non-tendered him. I think the DL is a very good possibility.

It will be interesting to see if he can still get the torque on that slider he has had in the past after last season's injury. I hope so.
