Kei Igawa in Spring Training

Kei Igawa in Spring Training
Here's the first news I have seen about Kei Igawa this spring, an article entitled "Yankees Say They Have Time To Wait For Igawa To Catch Up" by Tyler Kepner in this morning's (March 5) New York Times.

It's a bit of a fluff piece, but interesting to read Hideki Matsui's take on the whole situation nonetheless.

The Igawa news from NY Yankees Tampa spring training is not good. Yesterday he had a chance to secure a long-relief spot but may have hurt his possibilities with an erratic outing. Kei-san allowed four runs, five hits, and three walks over three and a third innings in a 5-1 loss to Pittsburgh.

And indeed, Kei Igawa was sent down yesterday and will begin the 2008 season in Scranton-Wilkes Barre AAA.
