Japanese Pro Yakyu

Discussion in the Links forum
Japanese Pro Yakyu
Inspired by Nutts4EP-san's recommendation in the Box Scores thread, I took a look at Sergei Borisov-san's Russian League Baseball site.  And a very pleasant surpise it was! While it is a site about Russian baseball at the top level, Borisov-san has done a tremendous job of entering data on the Japanese Leagues as well.  He's done pretty much all the things I want to do (like box scores and current stats) if I could ever find the time.

I can't help but wonder if anyone will come back to this site after looking at the great job Borisov-san has done.  Features include:

  1. the standard useful links

  2. news gathered from the Japan Times and Daily Yomiuri

  3. standings

  4. batting and pitching leaders

  5. who's hot/not

  6. a scoreboard on the main page

  7. box scores for each game

That's just what's available from the top Pro Yakyu page.  Going up a level, there are stats for past seasons and the Nihon Series' as well.

Well, what are you waiting for?  Check it out now!

And if you know of another Pro Yakyu related site, feel free to review it yourself or let us know about it.

And don't forget to add a word of what you think about Borisov-san's site by hitting "Reply" below as well.

Glad to see others are enjoying the Pro Yakyu site as well! Especially for those of us new to Japanese baseball and the Japanese language, the site is very useful for getting news in English and having the complete boxscores. Every website about Japanese baseball that I've found has its own attributes, every site has different features and helps me understand the game. Japanese baseball fans are doing a great job of covering the game! Arigato to you all!

After a year off, Borsov-san is back for 2004 with standings, leaders, box scores, and articles from around the Net - all in English.

Don't let the name fool you. Russian League Baseball is a great place for all of your in-season Pro Yakyu stat desires.

It's a fine site, as is Gary Garland's. I welcome Sergei back, and look forward to Gary completing his uploading. However, no one else provides the message boards and discussion forums you do, so there's a place for all of them.

About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
