The Yomiuri Giants celebrate Friday at Tokyo's Jingu Stadium by throwing manager Tatsunori Hara in the air after clinching the club's 32nd Central League pennant since 1950. The Giants' 3-1 victory over the Yakult Swallows, coupled with the Hanshin Tigers' 4-3 loss in Yokohama to the BayStars, allowed the Giants to repeat as league champions and gave them a first-round bye in the playoffs. The second-place Tigers will host the third-place Chunichi Dragons in the first stage of the CL Climax Series starting Oct. 18. On Friday, Giants ace Seth Greisinger allowed just one run on four hits through 8-2/3 innings to improve to 17-9 this season, becoming the first foreign pitcher to lead the CL in wins in consecutive seasons. Greisinger, who won 16 games for the Swallows last year, struck out eight and did not walk a batter. Closer Marc Kroon got one out to record his 41st save of the season and Shinnosuke Abe hit his 24th home run of the year for the Giants.
