Tigers slugger Tomoaki Kanemoto moved into 13th place on the all-time home run list Sunday, when his third homer of the year, a two-run shot in the first inning, helped lift Hanshin past Tokyo Yakult 7-3 at Koshien Stadium.
Known as "Aniki" (Big Brother), Kanemoto's 445th career homer lifted him past Giants legend Shigeo Nagashima.
"No one can match him, but to pass him, even if it's just in the number of home runs, makes me really happy," said the 42-year-old Kanemoto.
Kanemoto took a 145-kph fastball from lefty Kyohei Muranaka to the opposite field. The hit was called a double at first, but video showed the ball hitting the foul pole for a home run.
